Pro-Obama Catholics plan ‘stop the vote’ at parishes

Catholics United and Catholics in Alliance are both heretical organizations (dissenters) funded by billionaire leftist George Soros. They are working very hard to confuse Catholics that it is ok to support pro-aborts. IT IS NOT. Fr. Frank Pavone, my pro-life hero, has worked, and continues to work, very hard to encourage Catholics, and everyone, to defend life. Please visit his website for RELIABLE voting information for Catholics.
Priests for Life is warning that James Salt and Chris Korzen from the pro-Obama organization Catholics United sent a blast email on Thursday offering instructions on how to prevent pro-life Catholics from distributing electoral guides near Catholic parishes around the country. Fr. Frank Pavone, director of Priests for Life, has also pointed out that the Catholics United plan could have negative legal consequences.

In a message sent from the email address parishprotection@catholics-united.org under the subject "Help Protect Catholic Churches from Political Manipulation," James Salt and Chris Korzen say that with less than a week to go until Election Day, things are getting ugly. “In a final act of desperation, the religious far right is calling on its activists to defy the U.S. Catholic Bishops' order to keep unapproved election materials from church property by doing a 'literature drop' at parishes across the country. The goal of this activity is to convince Catholics that it's immoral to vote for candidates who don't subscribe to the right's narrow agenda." What is really immoral is to dissent from Church teachings and support the killing of babies.

Catholics United Threatens Churches, Pastors Over Pro-Life Literature Drops

The True Obama

Unbelievable that some people actually don't know that Barry supports (enthusiastically) abortion.

Anyone  still confused?

A Message From Joe the Plumber

I couldn't resist :)

Thank you to Laura

Twas The Night Before The Elections

'Twas the night before elections
And all through the town
Tempers were flaring
Emotions all up and down!

I, in my bathrobe
With a cat in my lap
Had cut off the TV
Tired of political crap.

When all of a sudden
There arose such a noise
I peered out of my window
Saw Obama and his boys

They had come for my wallet
They wanted my pay
To give to the others
Who had not worked a day!

He snatched up my money
And quick as a wink
Jumped back on his bandwagon
As I gagged from the stink

He then rallied his henchmen
Who were pulling his cart
I could tell they were out
To tear my country apart!

" On Fannie, on Freddie,
On Biden and Ayers!
On Acorn, On Pelosi"
He screamed at the pairs!

They took off for his cause
And as he flew out of sight
I heard him laugh at the nation
Who wouldn't stand up and fight!

So I leave you to think
On this one final note-
IF YOU DONT WANT SOCIALISM
GET OUT AND VOTE!!!!

Diocese of Scranton warns about messages from liberal ‘Catholic’ groups

Add two more to the list of Bishops that are speaking out for life.

Diocese of Scranton, Pennsylvania has continued educating its members on the importance of life during this election season. In a new video titled, “The Catholic Church and Life Issues,” the diocese refutes claims by groups such as Catholics United and Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good that Catholics can vote for a pro-choice politician.

The video, which is posted on the Diocese of Scranton web site, discusses the importance of defending human life this election, though some groups are targeting Catholics to convince them that the issue is not one of relevance.

The same topic was addressed by the Bishop of Scranton, Joseph F. Martino earlier this month when he surprised organizers of a political forum at a Pennsylvania parish. He warned the faithful in attendance of groups and individuals who wrongly interpret the bishop’s statements – particularly their document on Faithful Citizenship – “to justify their political positions and to contradict the Church’s actual teaching on the centrality of abortion, euthanasia and embryonic stem cell research.”

Planned Parenthood nurse admits babies’ survival of late-term abortion happens

Did you ever think abortion could be more disgusting?
This is what Obama supports.

Students for Life of America (SFLA) has released a new undercover video of a nurse at a New Jersey Planned Parenthood facility describing how an abortion would be performed on a 22 week-old unborn child and admitting that some babies survive such abortions.

“It does happen,” the nurse said.

The video evidence suggests that the practice of allowing babies who survive abortions to die without care continues.

Halloween/Eve of All Saints

Halloween or All Hallows' Eve is not a liturgical feast on the Catholic calendar, but the celebration has deep ties to the Liturgical Year. These three consecutive days: Halloween, All Saints Day and All Souls Day, illustrate the Communion of Saints. The Church Militant (those of us on earth, striving to get to heaven) pray for the Church Suffering (those souls in Purgatory) especially on All Souls Day and the month of November. We also rejoice and honor the Church Triumphant (the saints, canonized and uncanonized) in heaven. We also ask the Saints to intercede for us, and for the souls in Purgatory.
Since Vatican II, some liturgical observances have been altered, one example being "fast before the feast" is no longer required. Originally, the days preceding great solemnities, like Christmas and All Saints Day, had a penitential nature, requiring abstinence from meat and fasting and prayer. Although not required by the Church, it is a good practice to prepare spiritually before great feast days.

In England, saints or holy people are called "hallowed," hence the name "All Hallow's Day." The evening, or "e'en" before the feast became popularly known as "All Hallows' Eve" or even shorter, "Hallowe'en."

Since the night before All Saints Day, "All Hallows Eve" (now known as Hallowe'en), was the vigil and required fasting, many recipes and traditions have come down for this evening, such as pancakes, boxty bread and boxty pancakes, barmbrack (Irish fruit bread with hidden charms), colcannon (combination of cabbage and boiled potatoes). This was also known as "Nutcrack Night" in England, where the family gathered around the hearth to enjoy cider and nuts and apples.

Halloween is the preparation and combination of the two upcoming feasts. Although the demonic and witchcraft have no place for a Catholic celebration, some macabre can be incorporated into Halloween. It is good to dwell on our impending death (yes, everyone dies at one point), the Poor Souls in Purgatory, and the Sacrament of the Sick. And tied in with this theme is the saints, canonized and non-canonized. What did they do in their lives that they were able to reach heaven? How can we imitate them? How can we, like these saints, prepare our souls for death at any moment?

US Bishops Take Marriage Debate to YouTube

Days before several states will vote on legislation to define marriage as being valid only between a man and a woman, two U.S. bishops are taking the debate to the video-sharing Web site YouTube.

The videos, appearing in both English and Spanish, were posted Wednesday by the U.S. episcopal conference's Defense of Marriage Ad Hoc Committee.

Archbishop Joseph Kurtz of Louisville, Kentucky, chairman of the committee, narrates the English-language video. Archbishop José Gomez of San Antonio, chair of the bishops' Committee on Cultural Diversity in the Church, narrates in Spanish.

Proposed marriage protection amendments in Florida, California and Arizona would define a valid marriage in the state constitution as between a man and a woman. The latest polls in Florida show that nearly 60% of likely voters are in favor of the amendment. Polls coming out of California and Arizona show the amendment carrying only a slight lead. The homosexual lobby tries to make you think that everyone supports same-sex marriage. Just a lie. The majoriy of people want to preserve the family.

CATHOLIC BASHERS OPPOSE PROPOSITION 4

An update from the People's Republic of Kalifornia.
Let me make sure I've got this..
Not only do they want unrestricted abortions, but a 14 year-old should be able to have an abortion without her parents knowing?
And these are the people that claim to care about women?
Got it.

On election day, Californians will vote on Proposition 4, a measure that requires minors to obtain parental notification before an abortion is performed; there is a provision for judicial override in unusual circumstances. Some of those opposed have engaged in Catholic bashing.

Catholic League president Bill Donohue addresses this issue today:

“Some of the Catholic bashing that has accompanied the crusade against Proposition 4 is subtle, and some of it is overt. The subtle variety is on display in news releases that continue to cite the Knights of Columbus as a donor in favor of the resolution: The Knights’ contribution is actually quite small, but by flagging the Catholic lay group, opponents are throwing a red flag to anti-Catholic bigots. This is exactly what we would expect of such groups as the ACLU, NOW, the Feminist Majority, Planned Parenthood and NARAL; their record of bigotry is quite long.  The same ones that want us to be so tolerant of their views are the  ones who are so intolerant of others.

AMP News

Thomas Peters of American Papist has begun a weekly news cast, "AMP News".
This is one we should all see BEFORE the election.  The top video is news headlines, the bottom one is a papist take on the election.

The Catholic Vote

With all the misinformation floating around out there, I am really glad that We have another Thomas, Fr.  Thomas Euteneuer, who wrote this article to clarify some voting information for Catholics.

I have been asked by many people to help clarify Catholic teaching on exercising one’s voting rights, especially with respect to the abortion issue. There are many candidates across the nation running on many issues, and Catholics are trying to sort through them all, so I will state the Church’s position as unequivocally as possible for the education of the faithful and not as an endorsement of any particular candidate or candidates: true Catholics are not “single-issue” voters — we are principled voters. That determines which candidates we give our vote to and it determines the state of our souls after we vote. With respect to the abortion issue, the principle in question is the moral impossibility for a Catholic to cooperate in an act or an institution that is “intrinsically evil.” Now, something that is “intrinsically evil” is not just a bad thing — it is a heinous thing, trumping all other moral considerations, and we can never legitimately commit the act ourselves or approve of it in anyone else. Casting a vote for a candidate who forcefully advocates the killing of innocent unborn babies shows approval or unacceptable toleration of that heinous crime against humanity, and Catholics can never do it in good conscience. The Catechism of the Catholic Church calls such an attitude and action “formal cooperation” in evil (#2272). This does not mean that I commit the evil myself. It means that I agree with it and have made it possible for a person in public office to continue and/or advance that evil in my society.

Bishop corrects Michigan governor’s ‘shocking’ endorsement of embryo research proposal

Another dissident Catholic receives clarification from her Bishop

Bishop of Lansing Earl Boyea has rebuked Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm’s Sunday endorsement of a ballot proposal which would remove many restrictions on destructive human embryo research. He described as “shocking” her mention of her Catholic faith to justify her endorsement.

Speaking at a political rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Granholm endorsed Proposal 2, which would loosen restrictions on embryonic stem cell research and allow surplus embryos from state fertility clinics to be destroyed for research purposes.

"As a Catholic, I can say to be pro-cure is to be pro-life," she said, according to The Grand Rapids Press. Even if human embryos are destroyed?  What Catechism have you been reading?

Here's a reminder Jennifer:

From the Catechism:

2275 "One must hold as licit procedures carried out on the human embryo which respect the life and integrity of the embryo and do not involve disproportionate risks for it, but are directed toward its healing the improvement of its condition of health, or its individual survival."
"It is immoral to produce human embryos intended for exploitation as disposable biological material."

"Certain attempts to influence chromosomic or genetic inheritance are not therapeutic but are aimed at producing human beings selected according to sex or other predetermined qualities. Such manipulations are contrary to the personal dignity of the human being and his integrity and identity" which are unique and unrepeatable.

St. Alphonsus Rodriguez

October 30 is the feast of St. Alphonsus Rodriguez

Tragedy and challenge beset today’s saint early in life, but Alphonsus Rodriguez found happiness and contentment through simple service and prayer.
Born in Spain in 1533, Alphonsus inherited the family textile business at 23. Within the space of three years, his wife, daughter and mother died; meanwhile, business was poor. Alphonsus stepped back and reassessed his life. He sold the business and, with his young son, moved into his sisters’ home. There he learned the discipline of prayer and meditation.

Years later, at the death of his son, Alphonsus, almost 40 by then, sought to join the Jesuits. He was not helped by his poor education. He applied twice before being admitted. For 45 years he served as doorkeeperat the Jesuits’ college in Majorca. When not at his post, hewas almost always at prayer, though he often encountered difficulties and temptations.

His holiness and prayerfulness attracted many to him, including St. Peter Claver, then a Jesuit seminarian. Alphonsus’s life as doorkeeper may have been humdrum, but he caught the attention of poet and fellow-Jesuit Gerard Manley Hopkins, who made him the subject of one of his poems.

Alphonsus died in 1617. He is the patron saint of Majorca.

So Barry WAS Listening After All...

Barry expects us to believe that he attended Reverend Wright's church for 20 years and never heard any of his hateful rants, but in this interview he calls Reverend Wright a "great man" and his church the "best black church has to offer".

Supreme Court Justice Ginsburg: Roe v. Wade Went Too Far on Abortion

I agree that Roe v. Wade has gone way too far.  In fact, it is totally wrong.

And pardon my skepticism, but if Ginsburg really feels this way, why is she, when over 80 and in poor health, holding out, in hopes that a pro-abort Democrat will appoint her replacement?  It appears that abortion IS important to her, after all.

In an amazing admission, pro-abortion Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg says the Roe v. Wade case that allowed virtually unlimited abortions throughout pregnancy went too far. She admitted that the sweeping decision made it an easy target for critics.

In the conversation with Princeton University Provost Christopher Eisgruber, Ginsburg also mentioned her favorite part of the Constitution as the due process section of the 14th Amendment -- an irony given her pro-abortion stance.

The conversation between the high court judge and Eisgruber came last week, according to Town Topics, a weekly newspaper devoted to all things Princeton.

At the Richardson Auditorium, Ginsburg said the decision in Roe to topple the pro-life laws in states across the nation "wasn’t a big surprise" -- though she admitted she was surprised at “how far the Court had gone.”

Hidin' Biden: Reining In a Voluble No. 2

Joe's in "Time Out"!  LOL

Anyone who has watched Joe Biden over 35 years in the Senate might have a little bit of trouble recognizing the guy who is running to be Barack Obama's Vice President. Oh, yes, he looks like the same fellow. But traveling with Biden during this campaign has sometimes been like reporting on a politician packaged in shrink-wrap. While his windy, off-point pontification was the stuff of legend among his Senate colleagues, Biden is now leashed to a teleprompter even when he is talking in a high school gym that is three-quarters empty. The exposure hound who in recent years appeared more often than any other guest on the Sunday talk shows is a virtual stranger to the small band of reporters on his plane — less accessible than even Sarah Palin is to her traveling pack of bloodhounds. And Biden keeps to a schedule that provides a minimum of off-the-cuff encounters with voters, except across a rope line.

LifeNews.com View: Pro-Life Voters Must Back McCain to Stop Abortion

I couldn't agree with Lifenews.com more

In January, our nation marked 35 years of legalized abortion. It was a day to mourn the loss of tens of millions of unborn children -- sons and daughters, brothers and sisters lost to a world that values choice over compassion. It was a day to mourn the damage abortion does to women -- the medical problems, the mental health issues, and the damaging of relationships with friends and family, and the destruction of relationships with God.

Despite the sadness of the anniversary, here was good news. Because of the pro-life record compiled by President Bush and the pro-life laws approved in state legislatures across the country (and due in part to abstinence education programs and crisis pregnancy centers) the number of abortions were reported at their lowest levels since Roe.

Chuck Norris unleashes attack on Obama over abortion

Action star Chuck Norris has written an essay defending the right to life, attacking Sen. Barack Obama’s stand on abortion and urging voters to “vote their values” in the upcoming election.

Writing for WorldNetDaily, Norris disagreed that abortion is an “old” issue that should be dropped. That's just a pro-abort effort to evade the issue of abortion. They know they're wrong to kill babies.

“We can't just be concerned about our finances,” he wrote. “We also must be concerned about America's future and those who will occupy it. Our posterity matters. Their rights matter. And that includes their ‘unalienable Rights,’ with which they have been ‘endowed by their Creator,’ and among them are the quintessential rights: ‘Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness’.” Pro-aborts don't care about the rights of babies.

And Chuck isn't the only one who recognizes how extreme Obama is on abortion:

St. Narcissus of Jerusalem

October 29 is the feast of St. Narcissus

Life in second- and third-century Jerusalem couldn’t have been easy, but St. Narcissus managed to live well beyond 100. Some even speculate he lived to 160.
Details of his life are sketchy, but there are many reports of his miracles. The miracle for which he is most remembered was turning water into oil for use in the church lamps on Holy Saturday when the deacons had forgotten to provide any.

We do know that Narcissus became bishop of Jerusalem in the late second century. He was known for his holiness, but there are hints that many people found him harsh and rigid in his efforts to impose church discipline. One of his many detractors accused Narcissus of a serious crime at one point. Though the charges against him did not hold up, he used the occasion to retire from his role as bishop and live in solitude. His disappearance was so sudden and convincing that many people assumed he had actually died.

Several successors were appointed during his years in isolation. Finally, Narcissus reappeared in Jerusalem and was persuaded to resume his duties. By then, he had reached an advanced age, so a younger bishop was brought in to assist him until his death.

Hispanic Actor Eduardo Verastegui Expands on Pro-Life McCain Endorsement

- Leading Hispanic actor Eduardo Verastegui endorsed Senator John McCain earlier this month and released a video encouraging Latino voters to reject Barack Obama because of his pro-abortion position. On Tuesday, he expanded on the endorsement and said the election was a matter of life or death.

Verastegui, the producer and lead actor of the award-winning film Bella, announced his endorsement at a Colorado McCain-Palin rally on October 15.

Reaching out to the Hispanic community, Verastegui told LifeNews.com, "I am endorsing John McCain for president because of his commitments to end abortion."

The former pop singer and telenovella star said anyone who discounts the power a president has over the outcome of abortion is mistaken.

"We need to put an end to abortion and political candidates play a very important role in this matter," he explained.

Think about it, my friends...We do NOT want this. The only thing worse than a "President Obama" is a "President Obama" with a Democratic Congress.

Sarah Palin: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Some Sarah Palin updates from this week's news..

The Good

Sarah Palin's Record as Alaska Gov Showed Support for Special Needs Kids

- Sarah Palin gave a major policy address last week on how she will be an advocate for special needs children should she become the nation's next vice-president. But, does her record as the governor of Alaska demonstrate that support or is it merely an election ploy to gain votes?

The answer appears to be a resounding yes -- as the Palin administration put more money behind education and support services for disabled children and their families.

During her speech Palin said, "as governor, I've succeeded in securing additional funding and assistance for students with special needs. By 2011, I will have tripled the funding available to these students."

The Bad

From Letterman's Top Ten

Top Ten Sarah Palin Excuses For Spending $150,000 On Clothes

10. "Need to look good for the Russians who can see me in Alaska"

9. "The old man spends more on Polident"

8. "Auditioning to be Paris Hilton's BFF"

7. "Wanted to impress the American voters in the evening gown competition"

6. "Maverick, Joe the plumber, maverick, maverick, William Ayers, you betcha!"

5. "I fell for the liberal retailers' 'gotcha sales tactics'"

4. "Because the dollar is so weak, it's really like I only spent $50,000"

3. "Hmm...excuses? I'll find some and I'll get right back to ya!"

2. "In addition to every newspaper and magazine, I also read every catalog"

1. "The difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull: lipstick, Prada shoes, a Gucci handbag, and a few $3,000 suits"

The Ugly

Some sick person thought this was funny:

Cardinal Egan: Abortion support equal to Nazism

Every week, I listen to "A Conversation with the Cardinal" on The Catholic Channel.  Cardinal Egan has become one of my favorite Cardinals.

In a strongly worded article published next to a moving photo of an unborn baby in the womb, Cardinal Edward Egan, Archbishop of New York, compared tolerating abortions to the reasoning used by Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin to commit mass murders.

The cardinal begins his column for the latest edition of the archdiocesan newspaper “Catholic New York” by explaining that “the picture on this page is an untouched photograph of a being that has been within its mother for 20 weeks. Please do me the favor of looking at it carefully.”

“Have you any doubt that it is a human being?” Cardinal Egan asks.

Will "Faithful Citizenship" Win the Catholic Vote For Obama?

I have to admit, I am feeling pretty guilty right now.
During the primaries, I added the Election 2008 section to my sidebar.  I wanted a place to have resources for Catholic voters.  On this blog, I do my best to be faithful to the Pope and to the Magesterium of the Church.  As part of the Election section, I added a link to the "Faithful Citizenship" document by the USCCB on how Catholics should vote. What a mistake that was.   It has recently come to my attention how this document has been distorted and "interpreted" to tell Catholics that it is ok for them to support a pro-abort;  in this case, Obama is the most radical pro-abort to ever run for President; yes, he even tops Hillary on that issue.  Although it is certainly good that more Bishops have been speaking out on abortion during this election,  this document should have been much more clear on Church teaching.  If it had been, there would have been no room for the distortion.  So, let me clarify:
CATHOLICS CANNOT BE PRO-ABORT!
CATHOLICS CANNOT VOTE FOR PRO-ABORTS!
TO DO SO IS A GRAVE SIN!

If Obama wins on November 4 with the help of Catholic voters, the biggest factor in his favor will be the bishops' own document and Web site, "Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship."

I never thought it likely that Catholic voters could be persuaded to support a candidate with both the most extreme record on abortion and who favors gay marriage. Yet, barring a miracle, that paradox is only a week away: The New York Times is reporting Obama 22 points ahead among Catholic voters.

As I have watched the campaign unfold, especially Obama's outreach to Catholic voters, the USCCB document has played a decisive role. "Faithful Citizenship" provided Obama's Catholic supporters the escape clauses needed to convince Catholics they could vote for a pro-abortion candidate in "good conscience."

From the Catechism:

2272 Formal cooperation in an abortion constitutes a grave offense. The Church attaches the canonical penalty of excommunication to this crime against human life. "A person who procures a completed abortion incurs excommunication latae sententiae," "by the very commission of the offense," and subject to the conditions provided by Canon Law. The Church does not thereby intend to restrict the scope of mercy. Rather, she makes clear the gravity of the crime committed, the irreparable harm done to the innocent who is put to death, as well as to the parents and the whole of society.

PLEASE take a couple of minutes to watch this, BEFORE you vote:

Sts. Simon and Jude

October 28 is the feast of Sts. Simon and Jude

However meagre in details is the history of these glorious apostles, we learn from their brief legend how amply they contributed to this great work of generating sons of God. Without any repose, and even to the shedding of their blood, they "edified the body of Christ"; and the grateful Church thus prays to our Lord today: "O God, through the work of the apostles you have spoken your Word of love, your Son, into our world's deafness. Open our ears to hear; open our hearts to heed; open our will to obey, that we may proclaim the good news with our lives."
St. Simon is represented in art with a saw, the instrument of his martyrdom. St. Jude's square points him out as an architect of the house of God. St. Paul called himself by this name; and St. Jude, by his Catholic Epistle, has also a special right to be reckoned among our Lord's principal workmen. But our apostle had another nobility, far surpassing all earthly titles: being nephew, by his father Cleophas or Alpheus, to St. Joseph, and legal cousin to the Man-God, Jude was one of those called by their compatriots the brethren of the carpenter's Son. We may gather from St. John's Gospel another precious detail concerning him. In the admirable discourse at the close of the last Supper, our Lord said: "He that loveth Me, shall be loved of My Father: and I will love him and will manifest Myself to him." Then Jude asked Him: "Lord, how is it, that Thou wilt manifest Thyself to us, and not to the world?" And he received from Jesus this reply: "If any one love Me, he will keep My word, and My Father will love him, and We will come to him, and will make Our abode with him. He that loveth Me not keepeth not My word. And the word which you have heard is not Mine, but the Father's who sent Me."

The churches of St. Peter in Rome and Saint-Sernin at Toulouse dispute the honor of possessing the greater part of their holy remains.

Matthew 25 Network's Christian Radio Ads Mislead Voters on Obama, Abortion

A national group that has routinely misled evangelical Christian voters on Barack Obama's pro-abortion position is running a last-minute set of ads on Christian radio stations hope to mislead voters into thinking Obama's views are compatable with Christian values.

The set of radio ads includes one featuring clips from an Obama speech in a church setting where the pro-abortion candidate describes his Christian faith and Jesus as his "hope."

A second features Catholic attorney Douglas Kmiec, who claims to be pro-life but recently said America should settle for legal abortions. He has been frequently rebuked by pro-life leaders and Catholics for ignoring the extreme pro-abortion positions Obama takes.

AL FRANKEN’S ANTI-CATHOLICISM: MEDIA MATTERS JUSTIFIES HIS BIGOTRY

It looks like Stuart Smalley's anti-Catholicism is more evident than ever.

A columnist for Media Matters, Eric Boehlert, posted a piece on October 25 criticizing an article by Katherine Kersten in the Minneapolis Star Tribune that took senatorial hopeful Al Franken to task for promoting anti-Catholicism.

Here is a sampling of Franken’s virulent anti-Catholicism:

· He has mocked the Eucharist
· He has ridiculed the crucifixion of Jesus
· He has slandered all priests as molesters
· He has belittled practicing Catholics (e.g., Knights of Columbus)
· He has disparaged the Church’s teaching on embryonic stem cell research
· He made crude jokes about a dying woman, Terri Schiavo, and then misrepresented her condition by passing her off as already dead

Obama finds fault with the Constitution

Apparently Barry wants to "spread the wealth around" because he has a problem with the Constitution.
Let me help you out here Barry: When taking the oath, a new President swears to "uphold the Constitution".
If you see a "fundamental flaw" with the Constitution, which has served us well, what do you really believe?

Apparently, he believes the Supreme Court should "redistribute the wealth":

BIDEN’S NEW BISHOP BLASTS CANDIDATE ON ABORTION

Stand up Joe!  Stand up and meet your new Bishop!

God bless Bishop Malooly!

Bishop W. Francis Malooly, who was installed as Bishop of Wilmington last month, has criticized vice-presidential candidate Senator Joseph Biden over recent remarks the candidate has made about abortion. In a letter to the editor published in yesterday’s Wilmington News Journal, Bishop Malooly noted, ‘Sen. Joe Biden presents a seriously erroneous picture of Catholic teaching on abortion. He said, ‘I know that my church has wrestled with this for 2,000 years,’ and claimed repeatedly that the Church has a nuanced view of the subject that leaves a great deal of room for uncertainty and debate. This is simply incorrect. The teaching of the Church is clear and not open to debate. Abortion is a grave sin because it is the wrongful taking of an innocent human life.’

Apple, Google Both Come Out Corporately Against Traditional Marriage Definition Ballot Measure

What a bummer.  I really like my iPod.

Two of the world's largest computer tech companies, Apple and Google, have taken the unusual corporate action of opposing a California ballot measure, Proposition 8, which would insert the traditional definition of marriage in the state constitution.

Proposition 8 would undo the May 15 California Supreme Court's judicial activist decision that invented a right to homosexual "marriage". The court decision ignored the 2000 vote by Californians approving Proposition 22 which maintained the definition of marriage as a union between one man and one woman, and expressly prohibited the state from recognizing same-sex marriages.

Electoral College Analysis: John McCain Needs Three States to Tie, Four to Win

The liberal media have inserted themselves into this campaign in a way we have never seen.  They are trying to convince everyone, especially McCain supporters, that the election is already over.  Barry is even building the stage for his victory party.  Do NOT believe them! The election is much closer than they are saying!

The latest LifeNews.com analysis of the electoral college battle between John McCain and pro-abortion candidate Barack Obama shows McCain behind but a switch of three battleground states to the McCain column could yield a tie and a switch of a fourth would give McCain a victory.

According to the analysis, based on the most recent polls from media outlets and respected polling firms, shows Obama with a 311 to 227 lead over McCain -- though the nearly 100 electoral vote lead is somewhat deceptive.

Obama continues to have a solid hold on states in the northeast and on the Pacific while McCain has the strong support of southern and western states.

There are over a dozen states that could conceivably go either direction in the presidential contest, although the campaigns are contesting a few more.

There is too much at stake for us to give up:

Blessed Bartholomew of Vicenza

October 27 is the feast of Blessed Bartholomew of Vicenza.

Dominicans honor one of their own today, Blessed Bartholomew of Vicenza. This was a man who used his skills as a preacher to challenge the heresies of his day.
Bartholomew was born in Vicenza around 1200. At 20 he entered the Dominicans. Following his ordination he served in various leadership positions. As a young priest he founded a military order whose purpose was to keep civil peace in towns throughout Italy.

In 1248, Bartholomew was appointed a bishop. For most men, such an appointment is an honor and a tribute to their holiness and their demonstrated leadership skills. But for Bartholomew, it was a form of exile that had been urged by an antipapal group that was only too happy to see him leave for Cyprus. Not many years later, however, Bartholomew was transferred back to Vicenza. Despite the antipapal feelings that were still evident, he worked diligently—especially through his preaching—to rebuild his diocese and strengthen the people’s loyalty to Rome.

During his years as bishop in Cyprus, Bartholomew befriended King Louis the Ninth of France, who is said to have given the holy bishop a relic of Christ’s Crown of Thorns.

Bartholomew died in 1271. He was beatified in 1793.

Movie Review: Lakeview Terrace - PG13

I finally got to see "Lakeview Terrace". As the previews indicate, Chris and Lisa Mattson move to a new neighborhood, and get the 'neighbor from hell' when they move next door to Abel Turner (Samuel Jackson), who happens to be a cop.
At first it is apparent that there is an unusual intensity about Abel. They get off on the wrong foot when Abel's kids see Chris and Lisa go for an evening swim nude. His attitude toward them is immediately one of intimidation.
I found one of the most intriguing aspects of this movie to be the impact that Abel's harassment has on Chris and Lisa's relationship; It even seems to impact their (mainly Chris') desire to have kids.
Abel's wife died about 3 years ago, and it is apparent that he is beginning to unravel. It is especially evident in his relationship with his daughter, and eventually, his fellow cops. The ending ultimately seems a just one, but I didn't care for how it came about.

Content Warnings: Abel seemed to be bothered more by the fact that Chris is white and his wife Lisa is black, than by Chris being white itself. This aspect of racism really bothered me. Lisa's father is also not happy that she has a white husband. Abel makes a very crude comment about Chris' wife being black. There was also quite a bit of cursing and graphic language. There is also a scene where the Mattsons have a nude swim; you don't see anything revealing, but you know what's going on. If you have kids, I would suggest you treat this as an R-rated movie rather than the PG13 it is.

I may age myself with this one, but for you 'Barney Miller' fans out there, Ron Glass, who played Harris, plays Lisa's father. He is also an alumni of St. Francis Seminary.

Catholics cannot in good conscience vote for Obama, retired US bishop says

I am especially glad to hear a Bishop speaking out on this issue, because there are two Catholic groups (dissenters) that are funded by George Soros, that are trying to confuse Catholics that it is ok to support Obama.

A retired US bishop has issued a public statement declaring that Catholics cannot in good conscience vote for Barack Obama in this year's presidential election. "A Catholic cannot be said to have voted in this election with a good conscience if they have voted for a pro-abortion candidate. Barack Hussein Obama is a pro-abortion candidate," said Bishop Rene Gracida, the retired head of the Corpus Christ, Texas diocese. Bishop Gracida's statement has been released as a potential radio advertisment by pro-life activist Randall Terry.

Blessed Antônio de Sant’Anna Galvão

October 25 is the feast of Blessed Antônio de Sant’Anna Galvão.

God’s plan in a person’s life often takes unexpected turns which become life-giving through cooperation with God’s grace.
Born in Guarantingueta near São Paulo (Brazil), Antônio attended the Jesuit seminary in Belem but later decided to become a Franciscan friar. Invested in 1760, he made final profession the following year and was ordained in 1762.

In São Paulo, he served as preacher, confessor and porter. Within a few years he was appointed confessor to the Recollects of St. Teresa, a group of nuns in that city. He and Sister Helena Maria of the Holy Spirit founded a new community of sisters under the patronage of Our Lady of the Conception of Divine Providence. Sister Helena Maria’s premature death the next year left Father Antônio responsible for the new congregation, especially for building a convent and church adequate for their growing numbers.

He served as novice master for the friars in Macacu and as guardian of St. Francis Friary in São Paulo. He founded St. Clare Friary in Sorocaba. With the permission of his provincial and the bishop, he spent his last days at the "Recolhimento de Nossa Senhora da Luz," the convent of the sisters’ congregation he had helped establish.

He was beatified in Rome on October 25, 1998.

KUDOS TO GRUCCI: NO CHRISTMAS PARADE, NO FIREWORKS

A first salvo in the annual "war against Christmas"... and Grucci fires back!

The internationally known fireworks company, Grucci, has pulled out of an annual Christmas event on Long Island because the town of Patchogue decided to break with its 15-year tradition of holding a Christmas Boat Parade: This year it decided to rename the event the Patchogue Holiday Boat Parade.

Grucci vice president Phil Butler, a vocal critic of the secularization of Christmas, accused the parade’s organizers of “using all the themes of Christmas and plagiarizing all those themes.” Grucci is headquartered on Long Island.

California Elementary School Parents Blindsided by Homosexual “Coming Out Day”

I never thought I'd say this, but I want to thank the homosexual lobby for making it so clear why we need Proposition 8, which defines marriage as between a man and a woman.  It is important to note that not only are these kids being indoctrinated, it is being concealed from the parents, just as in my earlier post

Parents of students attending an elementary school in Hayward, California, are in a frenzy after learning the school allegedly made no effort to inform them their children were to participate in today's homosexual "Coming Out Day" school event, reports the Pacific Justice Institute (PJI), a legal firm specializing in the defense of religious freedoms and parental rights.

Parents of children at Faith Ringgold School of Art and Science were shocked to see a poster announcing the homosexual event, as they had not received any previous notification. In fact, according PJI, the school specifically decided not to inform parents ahead of time.

Brad Dacus, president of PJI, commented on the issue, attributing the existence of such an event in a school in part to the legalization of same-sex "marriages" in California.

We obviously also need Proposition 4, which requires parental notification before a minor can have an abortion:

Most accurate pollster from 2004 race: McCain now leading among Catholics

If all Catholics voted pro-life, as we are required to, McCain would be up 100-0 among Catholics.

Investor's Business Daily and the TechnoMetrica Institute of Policy and Politics (IBD/TIPP) has just released a tracking poll that shows that John McCain has dramatically shortened the his deficit with Barack Obama, taking a significant lead among Catholics.

In the midst of the polling confusion, this poll has been regarded as relevant, since an analysis of Final Certified Results showed IBD's polling partner, TIPP to be the most accurate pollster for the 2004 election.

IBD/TIPP reported late on Thursday that McCain has cut into Obama's lead for a second day in a row and is now just 1.1 points behind. The spread was 3.7 on Wednesday and 6.0 on Tuesday.

Weigel launches another Newsweek salvo at Catholic Obama supporters

This is becoming a bigger issue in the election; Billionaire Socialist George Soros is funding Catholics United and Catholics in Alliance, two pro-abortion groups who are unfortunately confusing many Catholics by convincing them it is ok to support a radical pro-abort like Obama (Catholics can NOT be pro-aborts or support pro-aborts)

The discussion over Catholic support for Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama continued this past week as professors Nick Cafardi, Cathy Kaveny, and Doug Kmiec—all Obama backers—debated the topic with political commentator George Weigel in the pages of Newsweek. Obama’s Catholic supporters argued that Obama would serve the pro-life cause in other aspects, while Weigel charged that such arguments ignore or minimize Obama’s vigorous support for abortion rights.

The pro-Obama professors made their case in an October 17 essay on Newsweek Online. They argued that an Obama presidency would reduce the abortion rate and they advocated an “interconnected” approach to promote a “culture of life” through policies favoring a family wage, universal health care, and better parenting and education for youth.

Two Catholic groups that have received heavy criticism for making false claims that Barack Obama is pro-life and for receiving funding from pro-abortion billionaire activist George Soros are now trying to deflect attention by saying other Catholic groups get Soros money as well.

As LifeNews.com reported, Catholic League president Bill Donohue accused two left-wing Catholic groups of getting money from the activist.

On October 20, the Catholic League accused two left-wing Catholic groups of consorting with George Soros, the bigoted pro-abortion mogul. Specifically, we said that Catholics in Alliance receives funding from Soros’ Open Society Institute (OSI) and that it is integrally linked to Catholics United. Now Chris Korzen of Catholics United is saying that OSI also funds Catholic Charities, Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and Catholic Legal Immigration Services (CLIS), thus making them morally equal.

Replying to this is Catholic League president Bill Donohue:

“Unlike the three Catholic organizations cited by Korzen, Catholics United and Catholics in Alliance are apologists for abortion rights. Their passion for abortion rights is so strong that they refuse to endorse the legal ban on partial-birth abortion. So scandalous is their work that they were singled out by Archbishop Charles Chaput last week for doing a ‘disservice’ to the Church. He said they have ‘confused the natural priorities of Catholic social teaching, undermined the progress prolifers have made, and provided an excuse for some Catholics to abandon the abortion issue….’ Chaput would never say that about the three legitimately Catholic social service groups.

St. Anthony Claret

October 24 is the feast of St. Anthony Claret.

Anthony was born at Salent in the Diocese of Vich in Catalonia, Spain, in the year in which Napoleon invaded Spain. He was trained for manual labor, since his father was a weaver, but in 1829 he entered the seminary at Vich. Ordained to the priesthood in 1835, he was assigned as pastor in his home parish. Later he went to Rome to work for the Propagation of the Faith. He also entered the novitiate of the Jesuits but had to leave because of ill health, so he returned to Spain and was assigned as pastor of a parish. His apostolate consisted of rural preaching, conferences for the clergy and publications (he wrote more than 150 books). Because of his successful apostolate he aroused the animosity of some of the clergy and as a result he left Catalonia for the Canary Islands (1848). After a year he returned to Catalonia and resumed his preaching apostolate.
In 1849 Anthony gathered together five priests who formed the basis of the Missionary Sons of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (popularly known as Claretians). At the suggestion of the Queen of Spain, Isabella II, Anthony was named archbishop of Santiago, Cuba (1850). For the next seven years he made pastoral visitations, preached against the slavery of the Negroes, and regularized numerous marriages. As a result of his activity he was frequently threatened with death and on one occasion an attempt was actually made on his life. In 1857 he was recalled to Spain as confessor to the queen. In this way he was able to exert some influence in the naming of bishops, set up a center of ecclesiastical studies at the Escorial, and work towards the recognition of religious orders in Spain. In 1869 he was in Rome, preparing for the First Vatican Council. He followed Isabella II into exile and at the insistence of the Spanish ambassador, was placed under house arrest in the Cistercian monastery at Fontfroide, where he died at the age of 63. His remains were ultimately returned to Vich.
