I attended a Life Conference today, and it was very energizing to spend the day with people who respect and defend life, particularly the speakers. I would like to highlight a couple of them:
Dr. Johnny Hunter "When The Odds Are Against Us and God Is Not -- We Win!"
Dr. Hunter referred to himself as having been stillborn. His mother had a difficult delivery, but she couldn't go to the hosptal because, sadly, at the time it was "whites only". Everyone thought he was stillborn, but the midwife insisted he was alive, and gave him a smack on the butt, and he was indeed alive. Dr. Hunter told the many young people who were there that they would be the ones to defeat the culture of death. I especially like it when he called abortion "womb lynching". I did get to speak briefly with him. Here is a video of Dr. Hunter:
Nancy Valko, RNhttp://www.wf-f.org/
I especially related to Ms. Valko's talk. I had a conversation with her before she spoke. She shared several stories of people who were thought to be gone, either permanently vegitative or dead, and came back to life. Back in 2006, I had 2 strokes, and the Doctor told my family I was 50 % brain dead. A week later, I had a 3rd. A nurse tried to talk to them about organ donation. Thank God my family believes in life. Because of her belief in life, and her many experiences, she has had several 'differences of opinion' with the 'culture of death' over the years.
Msgr. Michael ClayMsgr. Clay is the liason with the legislature for both the Raleigh and Charlotte Dioceses. He lobbies the legislators with Catholic perspectives on proposed legislation, and he informs and motivates Catholics to be involved with the legislative process both as a speaker, and via the website. My favorite quote from him was that "Faith is a personal issue, not a private one".
I didn't get to speak with him today, but I had met him before at the state legislature, when I went there to testify regarding a donor bill that was under consideration.

Even if a nurse wished to speak to yourt family, your organs would not have been donated unless you were completely brain dead.
Organ donation saves thousands of lives and there are many people waiting right now who will die without a transplant so if you and your family really believe in life you will sign the organ donor register and save lives.
Feel free to respond or ask me any questions about organ donation
