Unbelieveable. Not only does he lack the spine to stop this disgrace of Notre Dame honoring the most pro-abort President in history, but Bishop D'Arcy is actually advising Catholics to not protest it? Sorry Bishop, but Catholics are supposed to oppose abortion.
From the Catechism:
2272 Formal cooperation in an abortion constitutes a grave offense. The Church attaches the canonical penalty of excommunication to this crime against human life. "A person who procures a completed abortion incurs excommunication latae sententiae," "by the very commission of the offense," and subject to the conditions provided by Canon Law. The Church does not thereby intend to restrict the scope of mercy. Rather, she makes clear the gravity of the crime committed, the irreparable harm done to the innocent who is put to death, as well as to the parents and the whole of society.

The debate over whether or not President Obama should speak at Notre Dame's commencement ceremony hit the streets of Washington, D.C. on Friday.
Randall Terry and a group of demonstrators led the protest against Notre Dame President Father John Jenkins, who has said he is "honored" to have President Obama speak at commencement.
Terry says he takes issue with the President's stance on abortion, which he says is diametrically opposed to that of the Catholic Church and Catholic institutions like Notre Dame.
While staging a recent protest in Chicago, Terry elaborated.
"Notre Dame's mission as a Catholic institution is to uphold Catholic teaching and to defend the lives of the innocent. President Obama, with his policies, is shedding the blood of the innocent around the globe," Terry explained. "So to invite him is treachery against the mission of the school and treachery against the innocent who are dying."
Bishop John D'Arcy of the Fort Wayne-South Bend Diocese has made the decision to boycott the event, but on Friday he released the following statement:
"I urge all Catholics and others of good will to stay away from unseemly and unhelpful demonstrations against our nation's president or Notre Dame or Father John Jenkins."
