Notre Dame gives Catholics the finger...Again

More specifically, it is Fr. Jenkins who is making these decisions, seemingly unchecked.

Four More Bishops Make Thirteen Opposed to Notre Dame Obama Invitation

Four more Catholic bishops have come out in opposition to the Catholic University of Notre Dame's decision to invite President Obama to be this year's commencement speaker and to receive an honorary doctorate. The latest statements bring the total number of bishops who have publicly opposed the decision to thirteen.

1) Bishop John D'Arcy - Fort Wayne-South Bend
2) Cardinal Francis George - Chicago, President, USCCB
3) Archbishop John C. Nienstedt - Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota
4) Bishop Morlino - Madison
5) Bishop Robert Lynch - St. Petersburg
6) Archbishop Timothy Dolan - New York
7) Cardinal Daniel DiNardo - Houston
8) Bishop Thomas Olmsted
9) Bishop Gregory Aymond - Austin A
10) Archbishop John J. Myers - Newark
11) Reverend Edward J. Slattery, Tulsa
12) Bishop Kevin Rhoades - Harrisburg
13) Bishop R. Walker Nickless - Sioux City.

My response to this is: " Big Deal". For 2 reasons:
1. There are many more Bishops who haven't spoken up....why not? where are they?
2. Why can't any of them stop this? I am frustrated by the autonomy of Fr. Jenkins, who is knowingly and willingly creating a division in the Church by opposing Church teachings.

And to add insult to injury, we have this:

On Wednesday, Notre Dame officials announced that Nell Jessup Newton, most recently chancellor and dean of the Hastings College of the Law at the University of California, has been appointed as the new law school dean. Rev. John Jenkins, the UND president who has come under fire for inviting Obama and bestowing upon him an honorary degree, made the decision to appoint Newton.

And here's #14 and #15
