Today, our Pastor spoke about how our Parish will deal with the swine flu outbreak. He said that we wil continue to offer communion under both forms unless the outbreak gets worse, but we are temporarily stopping the sign of peace until the outbreak is over.
While he was speaking, I was also considering my personal practice. I normally receive on the tongue, and I receive both forms. I considered receiving in the hand, and whether I will continue to receive the Precious Blood.
I have decided to continue to receive on the tongue, because I feel that is the more reverent way to receive. I have decided not to receive the precious blood until the outbreak is over. Either form is the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus, so the one form will suffice.

My parish isn't doing anything different than usual but I have decided to pass on the cup for the time being.
Christ is risen!
He is truly risen!
Alleluia!
I had a thought about Communion..
I am Maronite and we only can have Jesus on the tongue,
and by intinction , not sure if I spelled that properly,
but I have confidence in God,
It is Jesus,
Not to worry.
The swine flu does not concern me.
If we follow the normal universal precautions, and use soap and water, and if only the priest touches the host and chalice,
I think that is best, he washes his hands in front of everyone,
Great example...
God bless,
Ellen,
