Obama is bad enough...and he also surrounds himself with the most radical of people.President Obama recently named Amanda Simpson to be a Senior Technical Advisor to the Commerce Department.
In a statement, Simpson, a member of the National Center for Transgender Equality's board of directors, said that "as one of the first transgender presidential appointees to the federal government, I hope that I will soon be one of hundreds, and that this appointment opens future opportunities for many others."
A 2004 YWCA "Woman on the Move," Simpson recently served as Deputy Director in Advanced Technology Development at Raytheon Missile Systems in Tucson, Arizona.
At Raytheon, Simpson -- a former test pilot who had worked for the company for more than a generation -- transitioned from male to female and was instrumental in convincing the military contractor to add gender identity and expression to its equal employment opportunity policy.

And he picked the name A MAN duh!
ROFL! good one!
Nice. Way to be Christian-like. Grow up. She's a capable woman who fixed a birth condition. Didn't Jesus say to treat others as you'd treat yourselves?
I agree with E. How does Ms. Simpson's transgendered status affect her ability to do the job set before her?
She was Deputy Director in Advanced Technology Development at Raytheon before being appointed to the job of Senior Technical Advisor at the Commerce Department. It sounds like Ms. Simpson's background qualified her for the job to which she was appointed. Does the fact that she changed from male to female somehow eliminate that? If that is the case, the logical extension would be for you to say that all transsexuals are unqualified for jobs in the government or elsewhere? Do you believe that to be the case?
Transgender appointment is 'political correctness run amok,' critic charges
Your link to the Catholic News Agency article does reveal the biases of the opponents of Ms. Simpson's opponents, but it fails to substantiate the charges made by the people interviewed.
I didn't see anything in the article from the administration that indicated Ms. Simpson was selected for the position because of her change of sex - that is an unsubstantiated charge by people attacking Ms. Simpson's appointment. She is technically qualified and has been involved in democratic politics for years. That is the criteria generally applied by all administrations for appointment to schedule C positions. All too often in the past the 'technically qualified' aspect has been ignored, so Ms. Simspon seems to have a leg up on many past appointees.
On the other hand, bias by Mr. Barber and by the Catholic News Agency indicated by the repeated reference to Ms. Simson as "he" seems like adequate explanation of why Ms. Simpson has been active in a group seeking to improve the status of the transgendered and to overcome the bias held by some radical opponents.
Regarding Mr. LaBarera's comment about quotas, it sounds like he would endorse a quota providing that it was set at zero.
If there are activists trying to affect policy toward the transgendered, it sounds like LaBarbera and Barber are the radicals, not Ms. Simpson.
