I'd love to see Mr. Andrus try to tell a Rabbi how to lead his temple or tell an Iman how to lead his mosque. He has no right to tell an excellent Catholic Archbishop, especially one who actually follows Church teachings, how to lead his Diocese.
The Episcopal bishop of California Marc Andrus has written a letter to his diocese in which he characterized Catholic Church teaching on marriage as “oppression.”
The letter dated Oct. 1 concerns the installation of Salvatore Cordileone as Archbishop of San Francisco, which will occur Thursday, Oct. 4.
The letter focuses on Archbishop Cordileone's support for the Catholic understanding of marriage and for California's Proposition 8, the voter-approved measure that defined marriage as being between a man and a woman.
Bishop Andrus said that “despite this difference of opinion and support” he looks forward to working with Archbishop Cordileone in the “building of the Reign of God.”
He noted that though he differed on Proposition 8 with Archbishop Niederauer, Cordileone's predecessor in San Francisco, they cooperated on reducing poverty. The Episcopal bishop also recognized common ground with Archbishop Cordileone regarding immigration policy and poverty.
Bishop Andrus characterized Episcopalian teaching on lesbian, bisexual, gay, and transgendered persons as the “proclamation of God's inclusion.” He claimed that Catholic teaching on sexuality is an attempt to “suppress the rights of others who, too, have been created in God’s image.”
“The recognition of the dignity and rights, within civil society and the Church of lesbian, bisexual, gay and transgendered people, and of women are as core to our proclamation of the Gospel as our solidarity with the poor, with victims of violence and political oppression, and with the Earth,” he stated. solidarity with the earth? LOL! I believe in caring for the earth, but by no means do I equate that with solidarity.

That Ducky of the church of King Henry VIII can take his "open mindedness" right where it belongs. It is too bad he is in a position to misguide the sheep. There are many warnings about leading the sheep astray.
And by the way, hating the messenger won't change God's pronouncements. If he believes God is oppressive, perhaps he should take his lavender belly and find work in some field that doesn't obligate him to God. Then again, he already has a cushy job that does just that. Unfortunately for many. Bah!
I could be thankful. It was his type of thoughts that lead me Home. When I realized what depths that church had fallen too... My fear for my soul was greater than my fear of the Church, confession. I am home, and free. I say some of this angrily, but it is because... They were trying to lead me to destruction, as I learned. And, because I love them and want them to know the truth of God's love, and God's words. They must choose knowingly. This man keeps them in the dark.
